Christians Better Believe It- Climate Change is Real!

TV, news, internet, newspapers, radio, smart phones, blogs. Everywhere you turn, someone is talking about, Climate Change. We’ve been told that climate change is, “a change in the usual weather found in a place. This could be a change in how much rain a place usually gets in a year. Or it could be a change in a place’s usual temperature for a month or season.
Climate change is also a change in Earth’s climate. This could be a change in Earth’s usual temperature. Or it could be a change in where rain and snow usually fall on Earth.
Weather can change in just a few hours. Climate takes hundreds or even millions of years to change.” [1]
“However, the current period of warming is occurring more rapidly than many past events. Scientists are concerned that the natural fluctuation, or variability, is being overtaken by a rapid human-induced warming that has serious implications for the stability of the planet’s climate.” [2]
We’ve been told that climate change is serious and that we must do something now or we risk the chance of losing our home-Earth. We’ve even been given steps to take to prevent or reduce the risk of climate change:
Become a vegetarian, or better yet a vegan to decrease greenhouse gas emissionsEat organic when you can.Buy local when you can.Live in the climate.Line dry your clothes to reduce fossil fuel usageVote with your feet, the push to be environmentally friendly by choosing to walk rather than using a vehicle Reduce and reuse before recycling.Offset your carbon emissions.Sunday Rest- the unbiblical day of rest & worship proposed by Pope Francis
Still, with all of this information, do we really know what climate change is? Is it real? And will these steps to help reduce and potentially eradicate climate change really work?
Simply answered, Yes, climate change is real and No, these steps will not reduce or eradicate the problem.
Here’s what climate change is all about.
Remember Adam and Eve before sin, when everything was perfect? When God created everything he pronounced it, “good.”  “The creation was now complete. “The heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.” [3]  “Every flower, every shrub, every tree, answered the purpose of its Creator. Everything upon which the eye rested was lovely, and filled the mind with thoughts of love for the Creator. Every sound was music, in perfect harmony with the voice of God. “ [6] Eden bloomed on earth. Adam and Eve had free access to the tree of life. No taint of sin or shadow of death marred the fair creation. [3]
“After his transgression Adam at first imagined himself entering upon a higher state of existence. But soon the thought of his sin filled him with terror. The air, which had hitherto been of a mild and uniform temperature, seemed to chill the guilty pair. The love and peace which had been theirs was gone, and in its place they felt a sense of sin, a dread of the future, a nakedness of soul. The robe of light which had enshrouded them, now disappeared, and to supply its place they endeavored to fashion for themselves a covering; for they could not, while unclothed, meet the eye of God and holy angels. They now began to see the true character of their sin.” [4]
“The atmosphere, once so mild and uniform in temperature, was now subject to marked changes, and the Lord mercifully provided them with a garment of skins as a protection from the extremes of heat and cold.
As they witnessed in drooping flower and falling leaf the first signs of decay, Adam and his companion mourned more deeply than men now mourn over their dead. The death of the frail, delicate flowers was indeed a cause of sorrow; but when the goodly trees cast off their leaves, the scene brought vividly to mind the stern fact that death is the portion of every living thing.”[4]
Ahh!!, you see my friends, climate change is real but not for the reasons the world suggests. “ Sin has brought decay, deformity, death. Today, the whole world is tainted, corrupted, stricken with a mortal disease. The earth groans under the continual transgression of the inhabitants thereof. “ [6]
Climate change is the result of sin, sin is death- the earth is dying under the curse of sin, “…for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.” Gen 2:17 KJV You see, it doesn’t matter how much energy we conserve, how many plants we eat or if we choose to drive our cars or not; so long as there is sin, climate change will exist.
So, what can we do? Make our calling and election sure, “…choose you this day whom ye will serve;(Jos 24:15 KJV)” so when Jesus stands up our names will forever be written in the Lamb’s book of life.  For those who remain faithful, God has promised:
1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. Rev 27:1-5 KJV
