Todd Leonard & Glendale SDA host Gay Pride Party; PUC praises Bi-sexual, Alicia Johnston, LLU has LGBT support group; SDA Leaders Silent?

Since 1994, June has been designated as “Gay Pride Month,” in which celebrations, demonstrations, and “pride parades, picnics, parties, workshops, symposia and concerts…and events attract millions of participants around the world. Memorials are held during this month for those members of the community who have been lost to hate crimes or HIV/AIDS.” Pride is something that God does not commend in any particular; it is directly opposed to the fear of the Lord, and should be firmly eschewed. “The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate” Proverbs 8:13. From Genesis to Revelation there can be found no positive references to pride; rather there is the recurring theme of pride going before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall (Proverbs. 16:18).  It is pride that caused Lucifer’s fall from heaven, it has caused empires to fall,  nations to fall, religions to fall and individuals to fall; and ultimately, for all who will finally be lost, their damnation will be attributed to pride in some form.  There is nothing that human beings possess or are that should fill them with pride, and certainly open rebellion against God, his image, His laws should not be a source of pride, as is the case with the LGBT community. If a person finds himself or herself with certain proclivities to the LGBT lifestyle (or any sinful lifestyle or practice), they should not rebelliously flaunt their “pride” succumbing to the notion that this is who they are meant to be, rather they should agonize before the Lord night and die, fasting, praying and claiming God’s Word to attain victory.
It is undeniable that the LGBT movement has flooded into mainstream society and shows no signs of slowing down whatsoever, to such a point that if one expresses disagreement or disapproval for that lifestyle, the person opposed is considered a bigot, intolerant and in many cases has his or her rights revoked and is subject to discrimination. A Washington Times headline attests to this fact: “Idaho City’s ordinance tells pastors to marry gays or go to jail.” What is sadly alarming is that the LGBT movement is gaining acceptance and momentum within the Seventh-day Adventist Church.  But the most reprehensible and egregious reality is that those who are supposed to be watchmen—leaders of the Seventh-day Adventist World Church, leaders of various divisions, unions and local conferences, pastors of churches—have said absolutely nothing, have done absolutely nothing while LGBT individuals, supporters, advocates run rampant spreading their cancerous influence and dangerous teachings throughout the ranks all the while trampling upon God’s Word to support that abominable lifestyle. Such persons fit the characterization given in Isaiah 56:10 and 11: “His watchmen are blind: they are all ignorant, they are all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber.  Yea, they are greedy dogs which can never have enough, and they are shepherds that cannot understand: they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter.” The few protestant voices have come primarily from the self-supporting lines.
While many Seventh-day Adventists remain silent, other Seventh-day Adventists have joined with the world and are partaking of its spirit in celebrating gay pride. In fact, one SDA church has hosted events and even held Gay Pride activities throughout the month, while others have taken their LGBT agenda to the world stage as they audaciously “declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not” Isaiah 3:9.

Sabbaths in June Devoted to Gay Pride at Glendale City SDA Church
The Glendale City Seventh-day Adventist Church, under Pastor Todd Leonard, of the Southern California Conference has devoted every Sabbath of the month of June to highlight LGBT themes in their afternoon services called Urban Liturgy, which culminated June 24 with a gay pride party on the church premises. This is what the monthly line-up looked like: “June 3: “Straight but Not Narrow: Being a Good Ally.” Daneen Akers will talk about the ministry that straight people can provide by being an ally to the LGBTQ individuals in their lives.   June 10: “Sincere and Well-Meaning…but Unfaithful.” Pastor Todd will look at some of the typical philosophies and bible texts that Christians use to do a tightrope balancing act where they try to be kind to LGBTQ people while still condemning their relationships in order to stay faithful to their interpretation of scripture. There is another approach.   June 17: “AIDS: What We Need to Know Now.” Alex Dubov, professor of Christian Ethics at Loma Linda University and an internationally-recognized epidemiological ethicist, will talk about the progress and remaining challenges related to this disease.   June 24, 3:00p: “I AM: An LGBTQ Lexicon.” Arleene Chow will facilitate a shared presentation and first-person discussion to help us better understand the meanings, and in a number of cases, put a face to, the evolving terminology we use to describe our identities and orientations.   June 24: 6:00p: PRIDE Party. City Church courtyard.”
Just in case you had to do a double-take, let me assure you that this church did have its pride party. Please see the attached flyer here http://glendalecitychurch.org/?event=urban-liturgy-june-24-300-p-m-multipurpose-room-pride-party-600-p-m. It was also on their event page on Facebook: which states, “If it’s Gay Pride month, there should be a Gay Pride party! So Urban Liturgy is hosting one on Saturday night, June 25 beginning at 6:00 pm. Invite your friends–gay, straight, and everyone else…ALL ARE WELCOME–to come for great food, fun and music. We’ll feature a number of live performers, including DJ Reeact providing a good groove all evening.” Adding to the parading of this lifestyle and reveling in open rebellion against God, this church hosted a celebration of sin where participants danced to devilish music, they ate and drank, all on the church grounds, on the sacred hours of the Sabbath, as if to shake their fists in God’s face daring Him to do something about it. This is reminiscent of the scene that took place at the base of Mount Sinai, when a golden calf was erected and individuals engaged in the most vile, base abominations in Exodus 32. It should be noted that the DJ for the event is also a part of the LGBT community and works at various bars and night clubs (as made clear on her Instagram account); one can only imagine the degenerate and lewd atmosphere on what is supposed to be hallowed grounds on God’s hallowed day. Make no mistake about it, such celebrations should never be held anywhere on any day, but a statement was being made by these professed Seventh-day Adventists by hosting this party on the day and at the location that they did.
Sad Track Record of SDA and LGBT Involvement
Where is the outcry? In attendance was a distinguished elder of the Hollywood Seventh-day Adventist Church, Rhonda Dinwiddie, the first open SDA “transgender” elder, who had this to say via facebook, “Went to the second Pride Party last night, again at the Glendale City SDA Church. Met old friends a made new friends. What a great time!” This post alone shows that this pride party was not the first of its kind, at this very church. It can hardly be imagined that this took place even one time, but the fact that it happened again shows that the SDA Church denomination is either unaware that this took place, indifferent or completely complicit. It would have to be the latter considering the disgraceful track record.
What has given rise to such a movement, in addition to the “sister” women’s ordination movement, is the 21-page document published by Andrews University, the Biblical Research Institute, the Lake Union Conference, and the North American Division called “An Understanding of the Biblical View on Homosexual Practice and Pastoral Care” that gives license for LGBT individuals to be Seventh-day Adventist members and leaders. Consider also that the a “transgender” elder, after coming out publicly, is still able to be a member and officer of the SDA church, the PUC chaplain that preached “Adam and Steve,” affirming the LGBT lifestyle , is still a chaplain; as well as Pacific Union College’s student association leaders putting out a statement in support of the LGBT movement.  Pastors John Mclarty and  Myles Gillepsie (among others)  have come out in full affirmation of the LGBT lifestyle and preached sermons stating such, thus  making their churches “safe places” for LGBT members. An entire conference, the Netherlands Conference, with its many churches, have committed themselves as well to becoming “safe places” for the LGBT community. Avondale College in Australia has had a history of teachers and staff members fostering LGBT practitioners and sympathizers. Additionally, the Palm Springs SDA Church hosted a men’s gay choir to sing at their church, not to mention a “married” lesbian being baptized in the Chico SDA Church, and the other churches that have screened pro-LGBT films such as “Seventh-Gay Adventists” and “Enough Room at the Table” with not even a word of censure from leadership.  What is sad is that these pastors, professors and chaplains are being paid from the faithful tithes of the members to propagate LGBT philosophy while they destroy the teachings of the Bible and disgrace Seventh-day Adventism, striking at the very foundation and pillars of the Adventist faith.
Loma Linda University to Host LGBT Support Group on the Campus
Loma Linda has for some time been pandering to the LGBT community and has held many conferences and symposiums where the LGBT lifestyle is exalted and God’s Word is correspondingly demoted to support sin; but recently it has become bolder and more in the open. Starting in the month of July Loma Linda will begin hosting an LGBT support group.  The flyer reads thus, “LGBT+ Support Group Description:  For LLUH Students and Employees looking for a confidential and safe place to discuss experiences related to being LGBT+.” A flyer was sent electronically to students.
Pacific Union Recorder Praised Ex-SDA Bi-Sexual “Pastor” Alicia Johnston
Also in the month of June, which was intentionally, the Pacific Union Recorder featured and praised Alicia Johnston (former ‘pastor’ of Foothills Community Church in Arizona) as the featured speaker for a February 10-11 female youth conference in Arizona (What is Love). The article that reported on this gross apostasy brings out some important points: “By publishing this story on pages 24-25 of the June issue of the Pacific Union Recorder, after she came out as bisexual, they endorse what should be denounced. That Arizona young women are being exposed to the teachings of a bisexual pastorette, should be a tremendous cause for concern from both Arizona parents and leaders.  Instead of an appropriate apology for exposing Adventist youth (mostly girls) to grievous moral error, they (PUC & Arizona) praise Alicia Johnston in the June Recorder.”  This sadly is not all that surprising considering the statement issued from the Arizona Conference of Seventh-day Adventists (Ms. Johnston’s former employer), lauding her for her “bravery” in coming out and praising her ministerial gifts as well as wishing her well as she goes forward in ministry. Go forward in ministry she certainly has; but it is definitely not the Lord’s ministry she is forwarding.
Since her famous “coming out” video, Ms. Johnston continues to gain much national attention, carrying her story to NBC and other influential media platforms, and has in the month of June become a contributor to the Huffington Post. Her first article entitled “All Christians Should Support and Affirm LGBT+ Sexuality and Gender” appeared June 20 where she details her experience in “losing her job as a minister,” her acknowledgment of being bi-sexual and her LGBT activism. She states, “just eight weeks ago, when I came out as LGBT+ affirming and as bisexual, I lost my job as a minister. My painful exit from my pastoral ministry in the Seventh-day Adventist Church, the denomination that was the cradle of my faith and the bedrock of my life, began with a simple question: How can we stop causing harm to LGBT+ people?… As I prayed and opened myself to hearing God, I experienced pure joy. I smiled. I laughed. I realized two things: I am bisexual, and it is a beautiful gift.” To call sin a “beautiful gift” is to ascribe sin to God, thus charging God with being the author of sin. What blasphemy!
At this time in earth’s history when God’s people should be allowing nothing else to absorb their attention save the proclamation of the first, second and third angels’ messages, they are flamboyantly displaying their gay pride, while they are further emboldened because of the silence within the denomination. Let us never forget these words, “If God abhors one sin above another, of which His people are guilty, it is doing nothing in case of an emergency. Indifference and neutrality in a religious crisis is regarded of God as a grievous crime and equal to the very worst type of hostility against God.”
